"The distance between the restaurants is 1.4 miles and, according to Google Maps, takes approximately eight minutes to ride by bike." Cornelius Today ran that line on September 29, 2026, when it reported that Crafty Burg'r at Antiquity and Carrburritos on South Main Street in Davidson were starting a fall biking series that night.
On a map, Antiquity and downtown Davidson sit in two towns. On a bike, they're closer than most errands. Most of that 1.4-mile ride runs on the Antiquity Greenway, and through the end of October two local restaurants have put a schedule, a passport, and drink specials around it. For anyone in the 28031 who has only ever driven between the two downtowns, this month is a good time to try the trail.
The Town of Cornelius lists the Antiquity Greenway at 0.6 miles. It runs from North Zion Avenue in Cornelius to the South Prong Rocky River Greenway in Davidson. The Carolina Thread Trail puts it at 0.8 miles one-way and rates it easy. The surface is pavement and boardwalk, and the trail is open dawn to dusk for walking, biking, running, and leashed dogs. Whichever figure you use, the greenway is shorter than the ride between the two restaurants. The rest of that 1.4 miles is on Davidson back roads.
That short distance is what makes the trail practical on a weeknight. The Thread Trail describes the path as a route between downtown Cornelius and the Rocky River Greenway in Davidson. It lists the South Prong Rocky River, Southeast, and Davidson greenways as connecting trails.
The main parking options:
If you plan to start at Crafty Burg'r, the Lake Norman Beacon lists its address as 21726 Catawba Avenue, Suite B. Carrburritos is at 445 South Main Street in Davidson.
The 2026 Greenway Adventure Series has 10 rides over five weeks, on Tuesdays and Saturdays through October 31. Tuesday rides run from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday rides from noon to 5 p.m. The series opened Tuesday, September 29, with a "Founding Riders" theme. The first Saturday ride fell on October 3, so as of this weekend eight rides remain:
| Day | Dates remaining in October 2026 | Ride window |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday | Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 | 5 to 8 p.m. |
| Saturday | Oct. 10, 17, 24, 31 | Noon to 5 p.m. |
The format is simple. You can start at either restaurant, pick up a Greenway Passport, and get it stamped. Then ride the Antiquity Greenway and the Davidson back roads to the other restaurant for your second stamp. Stamps add up to rewards. You can eat and drink before or after the ride.
On Tuesdays, Crafty Burg'r offers half-price wine bottles. Carrburritos offers $5 house margaritas and $15 pitchers, and the article notes that more specials may apply. The organizers say the series is open to cyclists of every experience level, including families and casual riders.
The remaining themes are a Bring a Friend Ride, Superhero Ride, Throwback Ride, Paws on the Path, Sunset Social, Fall Colors Ride, Lights & Night Riders, and a Halloween finale. The published coverage doesn't say which theme falls on which date. Check with either restaurant before planning a costume or bringing the dog. October 31 is the last Saturday on the schedule.
The most common reason to skip a ride is having no bike ready. Visit Lake Norman notes that Lake Norman E-Bikes sits right off the Antiquity Greenway and rents bikes for any skill level. The shop's own site lists its address as 19911 Zion Avenue, D3, the same street as the trailhead.
It rents five Pedego models: the Avenue, City Commuter, Comfort Cruiser, Element fat tire, and Ridge Rider. A helmet is lent with each rental. Posted hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Those hours cover Saturday rides from start to finish. A Tuesday rental would need to be picked up before the 5:30 close, since the Tuesday ride window starts at 5.
The Antiquity Greenway is one piece of a bigger network. Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation describes the Davidson-operated system as 4.5 miles of greenways plus 5.2 miles of urban trail. It connects downtown Davidson, downtown Cornelius, Bailey Road Park, and other destinations. On the Cornelius side, the Plum Creek Greenway links the South Prong Rocky River Greenway at Plum Creek Park in Davidson to the Bailey Road Multi-Use Path.
That connection matters next Saturday. Laketoberfest returns to Bailey Road Park, at 11536 Bailey Road, on Saturday, October 10, from 3 to 8 p.m. Admission and parking are free. The Town's lineup:
There will also be beer from North Carolina breweries, local wine, and entrée and dessert food trucks. The Saturday ride runs noon to 5, and the festival starts at 3, so the two overlap by two hours on the same afternoon.
One caution before you plan to pedal the whole way. Visit Lake Norman calls the wider Emerald Necklace an over-13-mile loop through Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville that includes the Antiquity, Caldwell Station Creek, and South Prong Rocky River greenways. The same article also says "much of the loop is already complete," and that more shared-use paths are planned along Catawba Avenue and Sam Furr Road. Check a current trail map before counting on an off-road route all the way to Bailey Road Park.
Little Mama's Italian is a newer stop on the same corridor. Its third location opened September 7 at 9623 Bailey Road, Suite 100. The 4,300-square-foot space seats 140 and serves a scratch-made Italian-American menu with brick-oven pizza.
All of this is on the east side of town. Things are less settled near McDowell Creek. In June, Cornelius Today reported that the multiuse path linking the McDowell Creek Greenway and the Westmoreland neighborhoods to West Catawba Avenue was closed for road construction. The closure ran from the Westmoreland Athletic Complex to the main entrance of Alexander Chase. An NCDOT spokesperson said then that the walkway "should open once the roundabout is built, right now expected to be around Thanksgiving." The posted pedestrian detour runs through Alexander Chase toward the back of the WAC and the Robbins Park neighborhood.
A July Charlotte Observer report quoted Deputy Town Manager Wayne Herron. He said the Westmoreland Road roundabout should open in December 2026 and the Northcross Drive Extension in June 2027. Neither outlet has published a newer update on the path. Before heading out on a west-side loop, look for on-site signs or a Town notice. The Antiquity route has no such caveat this month.
